Farmbot's paid internship program will give a final year university student the opportunity to embed themselves in the company to learn from all departments in the business, from research and development and production, to marketing.
Applications open today for rural and regional students who are interested in agriculture and are wanting to gain robust experience in a dynamic work environment.
Managing director Andrew Coppin said the internship program offered a unique opportunity to attract future industry leaders into the agritech industry.
"Agriculture is a thriving sector in Australia but is facing significant road bumps around skill gaps," Mr Coppin said.
"We need to be continually looking for innovative solutions to address local challenges, so it's critical that we're attracting the right talent to our Australian agritech industry."
The program will offer a cooperative and collaborative learning experience for students as they help design and deploy cost effective monitoring, control and management solutions to farmers.
It will also provide an opportunity for the next generation to start building their own professional networks.
Farmbot has grown from four people in 2018 to 30 today, most of which are in the research and development arm of the business.
"By providing the next generation with educational opportunities and by creating a more holistic view of what a career in agriculture could look like beyond farmgate, we hope to attract the future innovators and problem solvers into this growing sector," Mr Coppin said.
"We're urging all young people with a keen interest in agriculture to look into applying."
The internship will take place at the Farmbot Head Office in North Sydney.
Rural and interstate students highly encouraged to apply as interstate travel expenses are covered.
Applications are open from Friday, 16 July to Monday, 30 August 2021.
