TALLAROOK local Stephen Clarke from Deepdale Partnership, Vic, received the award for the best presented pen of steers today at the annual January Blue Ribbon Angus Weaner Sale.

Held at the Northern Victoria Livestock Exchange (NVLX), Barnawartha, some 4125 head were yarded which is back 2500 from last year.
Annually selling at Wodonga, Mr Clarke sold 58 Angus steers weighing 388 kilograms for $1180 a head or 304 cents per kilogram.
Sponsored by Angus Australia, the champion pen received a $250 cash prize.

At nine to 10-months-old the steers were grass assured and vendor bred, drenched in July with Eclipse and vaccinated with Selenium, B12 and Ultravac 5 in 1.
Down in breeding numbers, Mr Clarke said he is currently running 400 cows and has chosen to keep his heifers but sell all his steers.
"We are going okay (seasonally) ... all the steers are here (being sold)," he said.
"We run cattle at Mansfield, and suprisingly the steers are 20kg heavier compared to last year."
