The Australian Brahman Breeders' Association's (ABBA) ties to the Beef Australia exhibition have remained solid as oak since Brahman House in Rockhampton acted as headquarters for the initial event in 1988.

Past ABBA president, Ken Coombe was the committee chairman for the inaugural triennial event, which has only grown in stature in the beef cattle industry since.

This initial focus and ongoing support by ABBA members will be clearly evident at Beef '24 with 262 animals entered in the stud judging section for the breed across 52 dams progeny, sire progeny, and breeder classes.

ABBA general manager Marsha Keily said as the Australian association for Brahman cattle, attending Beef allows association members to showcase the best the breed has to offer.

"Members are present in our Brahman compound as well as in the sheds and the judging ring," Ms Keily said.

A JAM-PACKED SLATE OF EVENTS AT BEEF

The ABBA compound situated on sites 109 to 114 will showcase seven studs with cattle at the compound. There will also be nine decades of Brahman history displayed on a nine metre long display, highlighting the breeds' proud history.

"We have a fun activity in store for youngsters during the week with QR codes to be dotted around the compound for them to scan and enter into our competition to win a Brahman Fishing shirt."

On Monday, May 6, the ABBA compound will play host to Anna Daniels from childrens television show, Bluey. Ms Daniels will be available to sign copies of her book and chat, from 10am to midday. International Guests will then be hosted in the afternoon, with the Austrex live export team.

After judging day on Tuesday, May 9, ABBA will host a Brahman Dinner at the Rockhampton Leagues Club serving Brahman steak as the main meal.

On Wednesday, May 8, in the barbecue alley adjacent to the Brahman compound will be Hump Day, where Brahman hump will be served all day at Sethro's Texas Barbecue. Ms Daniels will also be back on-site from 10am to midday. Team members from Neogen will be available to talk all things lab testing related from 11.30am to 1.30pm, and from 2pm US-based STgenetics CEO Juan Moreno will be the guest speaker.

John Hill from Land Watch Australia and Datamars' James Ellis will be the guest speakers on Thursday, May 9, with the day to be concluded with FutureDirections members to be hosted at the compound.

On Friday, May 10, ABBA will host the Queensland Live Export Association (QLEA).

Ms Keily said another benefit of attending Beef is that it allows members and guests to network and form partnerships.

"It's also a great opportunity to attend seminars, check out the stalls, attend social events, and celebrate the entrants in the Beef competitions."

On behalf of ABBA, Ms Keily thanked all the volunteers that help to make Beef Australia such a success.

"The success of the Brahman breed represented at Beef Australia involves many contributions from volunteers and we appreciate every one of them."
