Buying opportunities were abundant at Euroa's monthly store cattle market yesterday in spite of much higher prices flowing to a smallish penning of 754 head.

The market for grown and feeder steers in particular was unable to reach the stirring heights of recent district rates.
Steers weighing 360 kilograms to 450kg made $930 to $1090 and averaged 263c/kg lwt while the highest priced sale on the day for $1250 paid for a small yard of three weighing 505kg.
Lighter 280-360kg steers made $755-$920 and averaged 276c/kg lwt while small younger steers made $560-$760 for an estimate value of 277c.
The market for unjoined heifers was also surprisingly dull given the strength of recent feeder demand.
Heifers weighing from 280-360kg made $610-$750 a head or 204c/kg lwt while lighter 220- 280kg heifers made $530-$580 or 220c/kg.
A limited display of cows and calves saw prices offered between $1160 and $1325 a head.
The top priced line was a yard of fourth-calf Angus with one to two month Brangus calves at-foot.
A small of four pregnancy tested Angus cows with second calves inside made $1040 a head.
